Flying with Your Oils

I get asked regularly...can I take my oils on the plane? In short yes you can, in either your checked or carry on. Here is the run down. I travel regularly for work. Its domestic travel in Austrlaia so I can take what I like in my carry on provided the bag doesn't exceed the carry on weight specified by the airline. I would suggest being mindful of the people around you if are going to open anything while you are on the aircraft.

You can pop your oils into your checked luggage, just make sure they have adequate padding from the edge of your suitcase. I would also suggest that the glass bottles are not rubbing against each other, wrap them individually or carry them in a soft storage case designed for Essential Oils. The aircraft hold will be cooler than the cabin but your oils will be just fine (you only need to be concerned about high temps).

If you are travelling internationally; you won't be able to carry your whole kit with you in your checked luggage, if you are departing from Australia, they must fit into one transparent and re-sealable plastic bag like a snap-lock sandwich bag. Only one bag is allowed per passenger (unless you are carrying a bag for your kids...you can carry their bag). The four sides of the bag's sealed area must add up to no more than 80 centimetres (e.g. 20x20 cm or 15x25 cm). Info is referenced from the Australian Dept of Home Affairs site. Each country has slightly different rules, if you're unsure you can always check with your airline.

Curious about essential oils and how they can help you, or would like to get started send me an email (kim.craig@orangeandclove.com.au), I would love to help you out.
